IMPORTANT NOTICE

On November 26, 2006, The Klamath Basin Alliance presented over 1100 petitions to the Klamath County Commissioners asking them to adopt a resolution in opposition to the sale of, management of, or the giving of National Forest Land to The Klamath Tribes.

Consequent to these petitions the County Commissioners, during their open meeting January 16, 2007, discussed the Klamath Basin Alliance petitions. Commissioners Al Switzer and Bill Brown voted in favor of a public hearing to allow testimony from any interested parties. Such testimony will assist the Commissioners to make their decisions on any resolution and will become a matter of public record. Commissioner John Elliott opposed even having a public hearing, questioning how a hearing will bring anything positive for the community, and whether a resolution would have any affect on Federal Government decisions.

We anticipate fairly heavy opposition to our petitions and any resolution of the Commissioners to keep Public lands in Klamath County public under U.S. Forest Service jurisdiction, therefore open to all citizens and available for Multiple Use management.

We need your overwhelming support and ask you to please plan on attending the February 6, 2007 hearing. See you there at 10 AM.
