Return to the primitive

By Steve Busch

June 1, 2005

It's no coincidence that Al Gore's book, Earth in the Balance was found among the Unabomber's, Ted Kaczynski, belongings in his ramshackle hovel in rural Montana .

The Unabomber wrote that his purpose was, "... destruction of the worldwide industrial system." Mr. K drew inspiration from Mr. Gore's rant, and decided to accomplish this task by blowing up: "Scientists and engineers, especially in critical fields like computers and genetics." Mad Ted claimed that, "Through our bombings, we hope to promote social instability in industrial society, and propagate anti-industrial ideas, and give encouragement to those who hate the industrial system." [Unabomber letter to the New York Times April, 21 1995 ]

The Unabomber's Manifesto is not a stand-alone document. Its intellectual underpinnings are identical to the stated purposes and direction of countless elitist environmentalist groups, such as EarthFirst!, Greenpeace, Green Cross, Sea Shepherd, The Wilderness Society, and yes, even the Sierra Club.

"We are trying to subvert the system. We would like to see the system collapse. When I say the system, I mean the modern industrial system as we know it. And one reason why we see the modern industrial system so destructive is because it's based on the premise that human beings are superior - it is for human beings that the world exists. The deep ecology movement, or the EarthFirst! movement, would like to see human beings live much more like the way they did 15,000 years ago, as opposed to what we see now."

John Davis, Managing Editor,
EarthFirst! Journal

"We already have too much economic growth in the United States . Economic growth in rich countries like ours is the disease, not the cure."

Paul Elrich, Stanford University biologist;
advisor to Vice President Albert Gore

"I honor EarthFirst! for having the guts to do the things they do [blow up timber mills and threaten people]. It's not for me, but I understand why they do what they do. And, ultimately, we all help each other."

Brock Adams, VP, Audubon Society,
quoted in the Los Angeles Times.

"The Wilderness Society and the Sierra Club ... all work very well together. Dale Turner, who is/was the assistant editor of the EarthFirst! Journal, was conservation chair of the Sierra Club ... I'm a member of the Sierra Club, the Wilderness Society, and the Nature Conservancy."

Dave Foreman, EarthFirst! Founder,
in an interview in E Magazine, Sept/Oct 1993

Dave Foreman, Wildland's Project co-developer, is perhaps the most well known spokesman (other than hypocrite Al Gore) for the deep ecology movement. It's all quite simple really, as Foreman has publicly spelled out that their aim is to "re-inhabit the Earth in some kind of future primitive."

This "future primitive" entails the destruction of the current system of government, and the permanent dismantling of America 's cushy way of life. These rad-enviros see the threat of Islamic terrorism as just one more tool that could help them accomplish their goals as outlined in the WP. In fact, many in the movement would like nothing better than to see a dirty bomb, or an EMP attack on America . A nuclear detonatation high in the atmosphere would return us to the stone age, overnight.

They're thinking is that this will usher in some sort of utopia for wildlife, and return us to the simple hunter/gatherer societies of days gone by. But, will this be a utopia or a nightmare? In this brave new world, you and I, and everybody else, except for a few elite snobs, will be confined to living in narrow "human occupation zones" as outlined on WP project maps. We will be told what to do, where to work, and even what kind of food we can eat. In Dave Foreman and Mad Ted's insane theology, America 's lifestyle is THE problem. We deserve imprisonment, because we are responsible for the rape of the earth.

Hmmm... have they forgotten about the hundreds of millions of Chinese and North Korean soldiers, whose sole purpose in life is to die for their tyrannical leaders, in an effort to acquire more territory for their massively exploding populations, once the United States is sufficiently weakened?

Nope, the enviro wackos and their political minions have that contingency covered, at least theoretically.

Have they forgotten about all those millions of patriotic-red-neck-gun toting-Christian Americans who might put up a fight to keep all this from happening?

Nope, they have already begun to administer a "vaccine" for that contingency also, (see gun laws, judicial tyranny, native species, and anti-property rights legislation).

Am I a paranoid nut case, or do I really know what I am talking about? Well, just you wait and see.

Dave Foreman was asked in an interview, "How does the possibility of a socio-industrial crash impact your conservation strategies?"

Dave's response was:

"I've tried to develop a strategy where it doesn't matter. I personally believe there's going to be a crash. I don't know when, or how, it will take place, whether it will be a pandemic, a massive economic crash, a clash of centralized state governments, a massive famine, or whatever, but I do know industrial civilization cannot go on. The anthropologist Marvin Harris talks about the industrial bubble. As this bubble expands, its skin becomes thinner. It is going to pop."

Dave Foreman,
EcoFuture interview with Derrick Jensen

If the technology bubble does indeed "pop," it will be because it had a lot of help.
