Conspiracy Theories

As a kid that grew up in Illinois listening to grown-ups talk about the city
government corruption and gangsters in Chicago, I must admit it's tempting
to consider that there may be something crooked going on when government and
bad people with an agenda show up in a recipe that includes money.  My
thirty years of employment with the Federal government coincided with new
environmental and animal rights legislation, Federal absorption through fiat
of State Rights and property rights regarding natural resources and animals,
and the raw use of this power to fulfill the wishes of radical environmental
and animal rights organizations.  The results of the last thirty years
simply confirmed for me what my relatives and others used to talk about over
a beer or Sunday dinner when I was growing up.

For the past thirty years all manner of radical environmental and animal
rights organizations have been campaigning to eliminate hunting, fishing,
trapping, wildlife management, public land access, and private property
rights.  These same groups have led the charge to pass and expand radical
laws like The Endangered Species Act (ESA), The Marine Mammal Protection Act
(MMPA), The Animal Welfare Act (AWA), and The Wilderness Act (WA).  Whether
it was forcibly introduce wolves decimating big game herds (ESA), or seals
decimating fisheries from Pacific salmon to African rock lobsters (MMPA), or
animal testing or pet ownership being decimated (AWA), or wildlife
management and hunting and fishing being eliminated over wide areas (WA), or
simply both private and public property rights being seized unilaterally
(all 4) the results are all the same and always vehemently denied as they
accumulate like a snowball going down a gravelly hill.

The Federal and State conservation agencies have hired many employees that
support the agendas of these organizations.  Federal and State politicians
treat the incremental achievements of such radical goals ("saving" this and
"restoring" that) as sure-fire vote getters from those unaffected by the
harms being generated one at a time.  National and State conservation lobby
groups, and Universities have come to embrace the notion that the demise of
active natural resource management and use plus all the other desires of the
radicals are an inevitable future and that jobs, careers, and retirements
are either made or destroyed by these powerful forces.  So there you have
it: a recipe fraught with bad people with an agenda, government, and
Billions of dollars.

Could that be why the State fish and wildlife agencies and their lobby group
did NOT even ask for the repayment of the $60 Million in excise taxes stolen
by the US Fish and Wildlife Service Directorate 10 years ago?  Is that why
State fish and wildlife agencies are so invisible while the US Congress and
the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the radical environmental groups make
attempt after attempt to create a "Federal mandate" to "eradicate 'Invasive'
Species" and "restore 'Native' Species"; all at the expense of State fish
and wildlife legal responsibilities and private property rights under our
Constitution?  Could that explain why radical Federal "conservation agency"
managers go to top jobs with the likes of the World Wildlife Fund and
Defenders of Wildlife when the political party in the White House changes
and why job changes between State lobby groups and federal employment are as
common as the return of the radicals with a new party in the White House or
the hiring of top government managers for "conservation" agencies from the
likes of The Humane Society of the United States or the families of powerful
politicians?  Is that why over the past two decades Millions of dollars of
excise taxes are spent to conduct a "Hunting and Fishing Survey" that is
simply a propaganda generator for why hunting and fishing are "dying" and
why the radicals' view is the wave of the future?  Is that the reason that a
Pennsylvanian (who is upset about his States' anti-deer hunting actions)
told me recently that he has fished the Susquehanna River for years and the
last few years have seen a precipitous drop in fish with no explanation or
action by the State to restock?  Is that related to the same phenomenon here
in Virginia where the fishing this year in the Shenandoah, Rappahannock, and
South Fork Rivers has collapsed with no State explanation and a game warden
response (just like in Pennsylvania) that "they are looking into it"?  Won't
this decrease fishing like wolves decrease hunting and seals decrease
fishing thereby becoming a "self-fulfilling prophecy"?  Could any of this be
related to the Federally-financed "wish-list" done in each State recently to
list ALL the things they "need" to keep all the plants and animals from
"approaching rare or endangered status"?  What use is there for such a
"pie-in-the-sky" exaggeration of dollars and power except to allow Congress
at the first opportune moment to begin shoveling Millions per year (and soon
Billions) THROUGH the US Fish and Wildlife Service to State agencies to
"save" whatever?  Who other than the US Fish and Wildlife Service will say
WHAT ON and HOW these Federal tax dollars will be spent?  What will be the
result on any remnants of State fish and wildlife agencies and their
programs that represent state residents and particularly hunters, fishermen,
and trappers?  Is all of the foregoing why the US Fish and Wildlife Service
has "rehired" (after retirement) the former administrator of the excise
taxes during the period of audit cover-ups and excise tax scandals from
manufacturers and retailers not paying the taxes to state funding misuse
"adjustments" totaling in the hundreds of millions, and a hiring and firing
of auditors to confound any paper trails?  Is that why his job is to
"direct" (as a contractor?) a significant "updating" of the procedures and
regulatory records of the money going into and through the US Fish and
Wildlife Service for, among others, the state fish and wildlife agencies?

You don't actually believe this stuff do you?  Beers is a "nut".  "Our"
state agencies and "our" conservation organizations (like "our" Universities
and "our" Federal agencies) are "looking out for us".  Anybody that believes
that stuff is a "conspiracy theorist".

Even though they wouldn't know what a "conspiracy theory" is, I can hear my
Uncle Tony and Grandpa Leo laughing out loud over 50 years ago.
