The Greek legend about the Trojan Horse and the fall of Troy is being
replayed with increasing frequency in the United States today. The only
difference is that today the Horse is the environmental and animal rights'
laws and Treaties and instead of Greeks spilling out of the Horse at night,
radical bureaucrats and extremist organizations spill out armed with
lawsuits and task forces to eliminate our rights and our form of government.
All of these laws and Treaties were presented as a gift to the nation (like
the Trojan Horse) and all of them hide other agendas and the seeds of our
destruction in their bowels.
The Endangered Species Act was sold as a necessity to save plants and
animals from extinction. After passage, the listing of thousands of little
groups of plants and animals has only resulted in a handful of recovered
species. Instead, the real result has been the prevention of dam building,
road building, logging, energy development and an outright assault on
ranchers, farmers, fish and wildlife management, trappers, hunters, and
rural Americans in general.
The UN Convention on Threatened and Endangered Species was sold as a
necessity to prevent the extinction of international wildlife populations.
While it reduced and eliminated much sport hunting and commercial uses of
animals, its' real result has been unmanaged populations of elephants and
whales and many other species that would benefit from management and use.
The impact of these species on third world people and international
fisheries has been devastating. Perhaps of greater interest to us though
are the results here in the US where the taking of private property and the
elimination of the Constitutional authority of States to manage fish and
wildlife and plants have been eroded and may disappear entirely. This is
being done under the Constitutional provision that Treaties become "the
Supreme law of the land".
The Wilderness Act was sold as a necessary step to save remnants of native
habitats. In fact it has resulted in growing unmanaged public land units
that are fire threats and where game species are disappearing and human
access and uses are reduced dramatically to no good purpose. Today the
Wilderness designation is a tool to, for instance, set aside all unutilized
or undesignated public lands in Nevada and soon all other States will be
similarly denied access and use of Federal lands within their borders under
this legislative anomaly.
The Animal Welfare Act was sold as a necessary step to "protect" lab
animals
from horrors that were greatly exaggerated. Today it is the tool to shut
down animal agriculture, medical testing, dog breeders, declawing of cats,
tail bobbing dogs, ear clipping, dog training, trap testing, and many other
uses of animals. Tomorrow it will be used to shut down hunting and
trapping
and fishing and rodeos and circuses.
All of these Acts and Treaties are changing our form of government for the
worse. The Federal government is assuming the powers and broad roles found
in European nations and if this continues, analogies with Russian and
Chinese governments will be more appropriate. Individual rights, States
rights, and Constitutional separation of powers and a defined and limited
Federal role are disappearing.
There are two new Trojan Horses being pushed up to our gates.
Federal Invasive Species legislation and UN cooperation are sold as the
means to restoring the "ecosystem" that we Europeans
"destroyed". Pre-1492
conditions are presented as some sort of stable Eden that we can make up for
losing, by destroying alien or "Invasive" plants and animals.
The results
will be a Federal power spurt beyond the combined steroid-like spurts of
Federal power growth mentioned above. The impact on individual rights and
Constitutional government will be catastrophic; the costs will be
phenomenal; and the results will be a never-ending government program of
fits and starts that accomplishes nothing.
The UN meeting scheduled for 2006 to consider an International Treaty on
Small Arms and Ammunition is being sold with tales of African coups (not the
ability of oppressed Africans to defend themselves as in western Sudan) and
the "need" to "control" small arms and ammunition
internationally. The
immediate result will be the total destruction of the 2nd Amendment. The
Treaty will supercede the US Constitution and from that moment on gun
registration, gun possession, gun purchase and storage, and which (if any)
guns and how many you may possess will be a function of Federal bureaucrats
and their regulations and enforcement. As with the Endangered Species Act
that has gone unauthorized for decades because it is so bad but also so
controversial that it continues to grow and get funded, gun control will
only get worse until all guns are confiscated unless you are one of the
"right kind of people". If you think the bureaucrats and politicians
will
behave any different than they have with the above mentioned Acts and
Treaties you have either been asleep for the past thirty years or you must
have some Trojan blood in you.
