Citizens risk losing water rights; fight back

Mary Ann Novak

April 25, 2008

Capital Press Letter to Editor

James Madison said, "I believe there are some instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation." An excerpt from a letter from the Pacific Legal Foundation. A warning to citizens losing rights, bit by bit, by a government out of control.

(I believe there is a verse in the Constitution advising us to use the chains of the Constitution to bind an out-of-control government.)

Hence, introduction of S1870 and S2421, The Clean Water Restoration Act. Not only will these legislations redefine "navigable waters" but they will have jurisdiction over every puddle, ponds - natural and manmade - ditches, storm drains, gutters, etc.

There will be more federal agencies regulating all water, and our rights and freedoms denied us, while convincing us it is for our good and well-being.

Just what could this legislation do? Would your irrigation water be limited or curtailed? Your home water source, your well, would it be metered or disallowed?

The regulations this brings would be so costly you would lose your land. Let's face it, it is a land grab, plain and simple.

Are we a democratic republic with freedoms, or have we and are we becoming a communist fascist nation?

Shouldn't those we elected to office honor their oath and uphold the Constitution?

We have an opportune time to research the legislators and candidates voting records, what they voted for and what they support, and vote accordingly.

Tell them to oppose this freedom-robbing legislation and any other legislation that will deny our rights and dissolve our sovereignty.

Take a stand. It's your land, livelihood, freedom and your duty.
