Sumeg Village Day to celebrate Yurok culture

California State Parks, the village Day Coimmittte and the North Coast Redwood Interpretive Asssociation will sponsor Sumeg Village Day at Patrick's Point State Park on Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sumeg Village Day celebrates Yurok culture and traditions, both past and present.

Among the events featured will be tours of Sumeg Village, a demonstration of plank splitting and hazel ties that were used in the consteruction of Yurok houses, a demonstration of hot rock cooking, a Yurok basket presentation, Dentalium necklace making, a Dress walk of traditional Yurok clothing and Yurok songs and stories.
