In recognition of California Indian Day on Sept. 23, some students at Grant Elementary School in Eureka had the opportunity to learn about Native American culture firsthand. Grant students in Gwynn Clark and Joyce McGibbon’s fifth-grade classes heard a presentation from Yurok-Karuk tribe member Ernie Albers. Albers, the parent of a student at Grant, shared customs, traditions, legends and history as part of the presentation.
