The Northcoast Environmental Center will host a public
presentation on the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement today
from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka.
The KBRA is a 256-page document created by 28
parties over a two-year period. The Klamath Settlement Group has
waited more than six months to finalize the agreement, owing to
the absence of an agreement with PacifiCorp to decommission four
hydroelectric dams on the Klamath River mainstream.
The NEC had preferred to wait for release of a
dam agreement before offering a public presentation on the KBRA.
However, with the “hydro agreement” now nearly one year overdue,
the NEC has chosen to move forward without it.
The NEC’s recommended changes, the reasons for
them, and the KBRA as a whole will be the focus of the
presentation. The public will be invited to comment and ask
questions.
