"I Shall Light the Fire of Freedom"

By Ron Ewart, President

June 19, 2007

I am sick to death with the power struggle between political parties, without the application of constitutional principle.  I am sick to death of law, after law, after law that restricts our freedom of choice, our freedom of movement, our freedom of what to buy, our freedom of what to wear, our freedom of where to live, our freedom of where to work, our freedom to live on and use our land without undue government interference and our freedom to roam freely throughout America without having to go through check points and body searches.  I am sick to death of the social and environmental propaganda being taught to our kids in public schools.  I am sick to death of open borders and the millions of illegal aliens coming into this country that feed off of the government "pig trough" and take jobs away from legal Americans.  I am sick to death of politicians that keep adding to that "pig trough", or that propose and pass legislation to grant these illegal millions unfettered amnesty so that they can remain on that "pig trough", for which legal Americans get to pay and so that they will add votes to keep one party in power.

I am sick to death of politicians making law from the wish lists of narrow-focus lobby groups, that violate our federal and state constitutions.  I am sick to death of environmentalists who have taken over every level of government and lobby their radical agenda on the party that aids and abets their every whim.  I am sick to death of their manufactured "the-sky-is-falling" crises, like global warming.  I am sick to death of anti-American Smart Growth and Sustainable Development policies, UN's Agenda 21 and radical environmental protection, with no clear government purpose and no due process, much less compensation for the affected.  I am sick to death of government negligently abusing eminent domain for their own ends.  I am sick to death of government trying to protect every single wetland in America , no matter what it costs the private landowner in hard dollars or lost freedoms.  I am sick to death of environmentalists stopping all new oil exploration and production and all new power plant and refinery construction, except so-called renewable energy like wind and sun power, or biofuels that can only produce a very small fraction of our energy needs and has to be subsidized with our tax dollars.  I am sick to death of these lobbyists using propaganda, distortions and outright lies to make us feel guilty about our life style.  I am sick to death of government meddling in free markets that only muck things up, create shortages (corn vs ethanol) and drive up prices.  I am sick to death of special interest groups using the courts and irrational law to manipulate our judicial system for their own aims.  I am sick to death of land use laws like the Endangered Species Act (ESA), state growth management acts and critical area ordinances that are a reckless disregard of our very foundation of property rights, freedoms and liberties, that were paid for by the blood of all of our brave men and women in uniform, who are even fighting today for our freedoms.

I am sick to death of the print and electronic news media turning into the mouth-piece for the socialists, communists, radical environmentalists and the tyranny of the majority.  I am sick to death of the attempts by many in government and academia to squelch our priceless individuality and meld us into a mindless collective.  I am sick to death of citizens who's only interest in Government is what they can take from it, not what they can give back to society by being a productive member.  I am sick to death of government bureaucracies at all levels that constantly exceed their legislative limits of authority, like social agencies that waste billions of our tax dollars for handouts to people who are more than capable of taking care of themselves.   I am sick to death of legislators and lawmakers who neglect their constitutional duty to make sure that bureaucracies do not exceed their authority.  I am sick to death of Presidents who abuse executive orders to codify international policies into law, without congressional approval and treaty ratification.  I am sick to death of the efforts by so many in government to envelop sovereign America into the North American Union or the one-world-order.

I am sick to death of some citizens of this land denigrating our war on terror, even after the unprovoked devastating attack on 9/11, while our brave men and women in uniform are in harms way and losing their lives, limbs and minds defending our freedoms.  I am sick to death of the unmitigated "bull" coming out of Hollywood 's radical left wing and I am sick to death of people who tear down our country or fabricate phantom crises for their own political gain.

Legislators think they know what is best for us, but in most cases they are wrong and they constantly violate their oath of office to preserve, protect and defend both the federal and state Constitutions in passing laws "for our own so-called good, or to protect us from ourselves".   The fact is, I am sick to death of government at all levels, as it is run-amok and out of control.  Government steals and wastes our money, it steals our land and it steals our freedom.  Government is only about WHO WIELDS POWER, not about what is constitutionally right for its citizens.  Government is all about money and remaining in office, perpetually, no matter what law they have to break, or whom they have to bribe, or whom they have to dupe.

I am sick to death of the whole mess that government has created and that way too many American citizens have allowed.  But I'm not the only one that is sick to death and a day of reckoning is at hand.  Many are restless and an uprising is fomenting.   Eminent domain abuses, illegal immigration and draconian regulations coming out of government, are raising the anger of millions of Americans and their anger is being manifested in protests and screaming injustice and a call for redress to lawmakers.   Rest assured that for as long as blood courses through my veins, I shall light the fire of freedom all across this great land of ours with every ounce of passion, intellect, desire and intestinal fortitude that I can muster out of this meager body of mine.  I shall not let freedom slip from our grasp without inspiring others to take up the flag of freedom after I am gone.

As was said by Thomas Paine some 230 years ago during our first revolution, "these are the times that try men's souls" and we dare not stand by and do nothing, while freedom hovers on the brink of extinction.  This generation's solemn duty is to preserve, protect and defend our children's freedom.  The future of our children and our grandchildren's freedom rests in our hands.   How can we let them down and still look in the mirror with pride?  How can we say that we have left the legacy of freedom for all those that follow us?  Let us together, "Light the Fire of Freedom" and keep it burning in the hearts and minds of all men and women forever.  Let not the difficulty of the task detour us.  America is a great and a unique country.  She, her people and her freedom are worth saving.
