You
Say You Don't Know Who to Blame? Come on!
By

Los Angeles
may run out of power in a day or so and have to go to
rolling brownouts or blackouts because the summer temperature is too
high and it's not the first time. Why? Because they
don't have a sufficient reserve of electric power to handle peaks in
demand. Why? Because environmentalists have stopped or
regulated to death, with the help of our government, the construction of
any new power generating capacity. Where do most environmentalists
live? In big cities where the peak demand comes from. You
say you don't know who to blame? It's easy! Blame the
wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists and the government that
aides and abets them.
Did
we hear you say that the cost of gasoline is seriously eating into your
budgets? Do tell! You say, why is it we, the most powerful
nation on earth, have to buy 60% of our crude oil from foreign
countries, leaving us open to the blackmail of oil cartels? Again,
why you say? Why doesn't the government do something? Oh, but
the government already did something. They caved into the
wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists and have stopped, or
regulated to death, the construction of any new refineries. And
they have stopped or regulated to death the exploration and extraction
of any new sources of crude oil. You say you don't know who to
blame? It's easy! Blame the wild-eyed, radical, city-born
environmentalists and the government that aides and abets them.
Did
we hear you say that your land is being "stolen" by government
due to all the rules, regulations, acts, laws, ordinances and
restrictions they pass on your private property and you say you don't
know who to blame? Come on! Blame the wild-eyed,
radical, city-born environmentalists and the government that aides and
abets them.
Now
the wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists want to reduce our
economic engine even further by foisting on us the debilitating myth of
man-caused global warming. They make us feel guilty about our life
style, our owning SUV's, and driving too far. But wait! The
car is about the only freedom of movement we have left. They want
us to ride bicycles to work. They want us to build costly
"green" houses and buildings. They want us to subsidize
so-called alternative energy sources, like wind and solar power, that
have no chance whatsoever of replacing the much more efficient energy
sources of crude oil, coal, natural gas or nuclear power.
They want us to grow mega volumes of corn and refine it
into methanol that ends up driving food prices higher and uses up
more energy to produce it than methanol saves. In fact, if they
could, these wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists would drive
us back into the dark ages if they could. If you let them,
they will.
What
was that again? Did we hear you say that your taxes or too
high and they keep rising every year. Now how could that be?
Why doesn't the government do something. Oh, but the government
already has done something. They are in "bed" with the
socialists, the communists and the wild-eyed, radical, city-born
environmentalists and boy have they done something. They have
created a multi-headed monster of government politicians and bureaucrats
that are drunk with power and out of control. They have an
insatiable need to feed on your tax dollars to please all the
wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists, socialists and
communists with those dollars and the wild-eyed, radical, city-born
environmentalists, socialists and communists continue to vote for these
politicians to make sure they continue to receive their largess and meet
their special-interest demands.
So
you say, who do we blame for all the power blackouts, high gas prices,
high taxes and the loss of freedom, liberty and property rights? Oh,
now you say you have seen the light. We should blame the government
and the wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists, socialists and the
communists. But what if you are a wild-eyed, radical,
city-born environmentalists, socialists, or a communists?
Then who do you blame? Yourself? Hardly! You'll blame
the government for not doing something. Then you'll blame all the
conservatives for trying to hold government within its
constitutional limits so that it doesn't do something stupid.
But is
the government and these special interest groups really the culprit, or
are you the culprit for allowing them this much power over you? We
have a constitution that limits their power, but the constitution and
those limits are only as good as those that are willing to risk all to
defend and enforce them. Otherwise, you can go on blaming the government
and the wild-eyed, radical, city-born environmentalists, socialists and the
communists, but you'd be directing your anger and frustration at
the wrong enemy. For the right enemy to blame, look in
the mirror. Maybe then you will come to the conclusion that you may
eventually have to choose to reform the man you see looking
back at you and the disturbing realization that that reformation might
cost you a bunch.
Unfortunately,
given the timid, if not non-existent response to our continuous
efforts to defend your freedom, liberty and property rights, we have to
ask if any of you are actually looking in the mirror these days, or
even care. We do know that at least a few of you care, but
nowhere near enough.
