Bad science shows up in
KBRA, spotted owl
Klamath Falls Herald and News
Letter to the Editor
October 17, 2010
What is it with people who
do not understand the difference between fact and fiction when
it comes to science, political candidates or the Klamath Basin
Restoration Agreement?
The damage caused to our
community, this state and the nation by individuals claiming to
know more than they do is self-evident.
Recent examples of
misapplication of science for political gain include the Air
Quality Management District of California that overstated smog
quantity by 340 percent, causing Californians untold billions of
dollars and lost jobs from false science.
Another example: The spotted
owl fiasco that destroyed Oregon’s logging industry.
Mismanagement of local water resources that have left many of
our neighbors looking at bankruptcy of family farms.
Did I forget the false
scientific data of global warming?
I, for one, have become
extremely annoyed with progressive liberal Democrat mindset of
falsifying science and economic theory for personal and
political gain.
The choice in this election
for voters is choosing between candidates who understand what is
real and attainable vs. those who pretend to know what is good
for all of us. The choice is between candidates who will listen
to us and those who want to control us.
I would rather vote for
local candidates like Dennis Linthicum, Bill Garrard, Kathy
Nowaski and other conservatives who have solid business
experience and proven conservative values than self-serving
liberal candidates.
Dennis understands the
difference between science and opinion. Dennis understands cost
benefit analysis.
Dennis will listen to the
community and make political decisions based on facts and
consensus. Compare Dennis to Kirk Oakes, who proudly tells his
audiences that he is a card-carrying member of the ACLU, Sierra
Club and is for the KBRA dam removal. Oakes’ values are not my
values. I want realistic pragmatic women and men in public
office, not philosophers and theorists.
