The
Klamath County Board of Commissioners will conduct its second public
hearing at today on the proposed Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement.
Much of the meeting will be devoted to public comment.
The
7 p.m.
meeting will be in the blue
building at the Klamath County Fairgrounds. Commissioners moved the
meeting from the
Klamath
County
Government
Center
because of anticipated high
attendance.
Stakeholders
released the agreement Jan. 15 after two-and a-half years of
negotiations. If approved, it would allocate water in the
Klamath River
watershed between
irrigators, tribes, fishermen and conservationists.
Presentations from groups involved in drafting the
agreement occupied the county’s first hearing Feb. 4.
Along with the Klamath Water Users Association,
PacifiCorp and the Klamath Tribes, a coalition of water users from on
and off the Klamath Reclamation Project provided a letter of demands to
commissioners.
The second hearing will include comments from
Commissioner John Elliott on the agreement impact on
Klamath
County
, but most time will be
dedicated to public comment and responses.
