District begins draining A Canal Monday

October 10, 2007

Herald and News

Sunday will be the last day for Klamath Project irrigators to irrigate their crops and grazing lands before the end of the growing season.

Klamath Irrigation District will begin draining the A Canal Monday. The A Canal is the primary source of irrigation water for the Klamath Project, which includes about 2,000 farmers and ranchers.

Draining the canal each year allows the district to perform maintenance and repairs as well as to clean out the trash and debris that ends up on the bottom of the canal.
