A forum on “Building Local Food Networks, What’s Possible?” is
planned
12:20-2 p.m.
Monday, March 31, at the
Ponderosa
Junior High School
cafeteria.
This
forum is for food service managers, parents, school administrators, food
distributors, farmers, growers, chefs, restaurant owners, farmer’s
market supporters, and anyone interested in a sustainable community.
Cory Schreiber, Farms to School Program Manager for the Oregon
Department of Agriculture, Katrina Wiest, wellness specialist from the
Bend-LaPine school district, representatives of the Klamath school
districts, and local growers will share thoughts on how a local food
network can be built in the
Klamath
Basin
.
Farm
to school programs throughout the state are connecting school cafeterias
with local farmers to improve the health of students and the local
economy.
The forum and lunch are free. The event is sponsored
through a grant received from KMSB and with coordination from Healthy
Active Klamath Coalition.
