Dan Keppen asked about
Interior nominee on NPR
Klamath Falls Herald and
News
December
17, 2008
The
executive director of
the Family Farm
Alliance, which
represents Klamath Basin
agricultural interests,
was interviewed Tuesday
for National Public
Radio’s show “All Things
Considered.”
Dan Keppen was asked his
opinion about
President-elect Barack
Obama’s reported
nominee for Secretary of
Interior, Colorado Sen.
Ken Salazar. Obama is
expected to make the
announcement later this
week.
In a
transcript of the
interview available on
NPR’s Web page, Keppen
says Salazar’s
understanding of the
issues will be
important.
“… the people
I represent in rural
communities are going to
want somebody as
Secretary of the
Interior that
understands rural
issues,” he said. “It
looks like many of the
folks that might be
opposing or upset about
Sen. Salazar’s
appointment are activist
groups from urban
areas.”
The interview
is available at
www.npr.org. Salazar
has worked as a waterlaw
attorney, as director of
the Colorado Department
of Natural Resources, as
the state attorney
general and as a U.S.
senator.
