Meeting on water agreements Oct. 7

The group of stakeholders charged with advising federal authorities on the implementation of the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement a will hold a public meeting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at Oregon Institute of Technology.

The Klamath Basin Coordinating Council will have the day-long meeting in the Mazama and Scott rooms at OIT ’s College Union. There is no set agenda for the meeting yet but there will be opportunity for public comment, said facilitator Ed Sheets.

Stakeholders spent years crafting the restoration agreement and a related Klamath River dam removal document, the Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement. The documents are an effort to resolve conflicts over water throughout the Klamath River watershed.

This will be only the second time the council has met. Its members met in Eureka, Calif., last week to begin organizing the group and hear updates about progress on implementing aspects of the KBRA as stakeholders wait for Congress to approve legislation and provide funding.
