A public meeting on a proposal to build a liquefied
natural gas pipeline from
Coos
Bay
to Malin will be from
6
to
9 p.m.
Thursday at the Shilo Inn
in
Klamath Falls
.
Representatives from companies developing the Jordan
Cove Energy Project and Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline will be on hand
to answer questions about the project.
Jordan Cove is a proposed liquefied natural gas, or
LNG, terminal near
Coos
Bay
. The Pacific Connector
would start at the terminal and run for 230 miles east to connect to
another pipeline at Malin.
Companies pursuing project
Three energy companies — Canada-based Fort Chicago
Energy Partners, San Francisco-based PG&E Corp., and Tulsa-based
Williams — are pursuing the project to increase the supply of natural
gas to markets in the Pacific Northwest and northern portions of
California and Nevada.
If completed, the pipeline would deliver up to 1
billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Developers are still securing easements and property
rights along the pipeline route, and the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission has yet to give final approval. Construction would begin in
May 2010.
