Opponents, proponents sponsor dueling
water meetings
Water agreement discussed in separate forums
Klamath Falls Herald and News
November 11, 2009
Comments in opposition and in support of the Klamath
Basin Restoration Agreement were voiced at separate meetings in
Klamath Falls Tuesday.
Advocates of the agreement, which seeks to resolve conflicts over
water in the Klamath River watershed, sponsored a last minute
luncheon at the Creamery with nearly 50 people attending. Some
raised concerns about how they and others should start promoting the
KBRA more openly.
Three area state lawmakers had a citizen comment forum at the
Klamath County Fairgrounds Tuesday afternoon and evening. State Rep.
Bill Garrard, R-Klamath Falls, said the afternoon session of the
forum was civil. All 42 speakers were against dam removal, with most
also speaking against the KBRA, he said.
