Merrill without
water
Other
municipal wells
drop, absorb
impact
Klamath Falls
Herald and News
The cities of
Malin and
Tulelake have
experienced
drops in their
municipal
groundwater
wells, but
officials said
it shouldn’t
impact water
service to
residents.
Rob Grounds,
Malin’s public
works director,
said the level
in the town’s
three wells
dropped about 3
feet in
the past week
and was at a
static level of
90 feet.
The water level
is far below the
42-foot level
seen in March
and represents a
sharper decline
than what was
seen in previous
summers.
But, Grounds
said, he isn’t
concerned.
“We’re a long
way from being
out of water,”
he said.
Staff at
Tulelake City
Hall said there
was a decline in
well water
levels, but no
impact was
expected. They
added that even
during the 2001
water crisis,
Tulelake’s deep
wells remained
wet.
