MERRILL — When irrigators impacted
by the 2 0 01 water crisis felt hurt, angry and bitter over the loss of
water, Gordon Aguiar organized a prayer meeting so they could seek
guidance and comfort.
Today, with another water shortage
looming, the pastor of Calvary Fellowship Lower Klamath is organizing
another such meeting.
Healing process
“There’s nothing wrong with airing a
frustration,” he said. “I believe that is part of the healing process in
any context.”
The event will be at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday at the Merrill City Hall recreation hall.
Aguiar said the church has organized
similar events for those facing difficult times, such as the death of a
family member. He said he anticipated singing and discussion and prayer.
Risk involved
Aguiar said he acknowledged the risk
of holding a meeting about water, especially when many are upset at the
government for the water shortage facing the region.
“It’s a loss,” he said. “People may
go out of business. I have 12 acres that may go without water.”
Aguiar said while the meeting is
meant to be a place for people to air frustration, organizers will not
allow shouting, yelling or verbal attacks on government officials.
“ We’re not there to
argue,” he said. “We’re not there to bash the government.”
