Pesticide reports no longer required
Klamath Falls Herald and News
July 16, 2009
The
Oregon Department of Agriculture has suspended its Pesticide
Use Reporting System until January 2013, as directed by the
Oregon Legislature.
Those required to report
pesticide use online will no longer need to file reports
until further notice, and the system will no longer accept
reports.
State budget constraints forced the suspension, according to
a press release from the Department of Agriculture.
Anyone using a
registered pesticide or pest control product in the course
of business, or for a government entity, or in a public
place, was required to report. Anyone
who had yet to report
2009 pesticide use will not be required to and will not face
any penalty for failing to report.
Although still required by federal and state law, PURS was
the state’s only way to track pesticide use, and the
requirement to report in the state has been suspended as of
July 1.
