Record bids on lease lands

Klamath Falls Herald and News

March 6, 2008

Bureau of Reclamation staff members Mike Green, clockwise from left foreground, Jennifer Berri, Jackie Chand and Kim Flanagan open bids for property owned by the Bureau of Reclamation on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Reclamation reported a record number of bids for lease lands owned by the agency. There were a total of 175 bids on 27 lots (totaling 4,060 acres), with an average of 6.5 bids per lot.

Bids averaged $254.37 per acre and totaled $1,021,482.50.

Kevin Moore, Bureau of Reclamation public affairs specialist, said the bids are more than $500,000 higher than last year because rising commodity prices have driven the value of land up.
