There is no going back to days of plenty

Klamath Falls Herald and News

Letter to the Editor

October 9, 2010

As much as many people in the community would like to not face the reality of it, we don’t have the water and other natural resources like we used to, and we have a lot of fishing, agricultural interests in other areas, environmental, tribal and government agencies at the local, regional, state and national level that are going to make us divide what is left in their vision of what is fair.

There is no going back to the days of plenty. Sadly, that horse has already left the gate.

We need our local government representatives to be engaged in the division of resources process to make sure we protect a fair share for Klamath Basin agriculture.

This is a process that is going to go on with or without us. Don’t let these other groups control our future without our input.

Please vote “no” on Ballot Measure 18-80 to tell our government leaders we support them being at the table.
