The 100-foot breach in the dike near the Geary Canal Bridge flooded a portion of the Running Y Ranch Resort golf course, submerging three holes under water, said Jon Barkee, development manager for the Running Y.

The 15 remaining holes were still open Thursday, Barkee said. The resort's Northwest Golf Tournament is scheduled for September, and officials haven't determined the status of the event.

None of the resort's homes or facilities were affected. The Running Y owns 3,600 acres of property that includes private homes, a cattle ranch and resort amenities. Those include an Arnold Palmer golf course, a restaurant and lodge, spa and ice skating rink.

Barkee said there have been minimal problems with people traveling to and from the resort. Those heading to the Running Y will be detoured at West Side Road and the Highway-66 junction.
