Walden mum on run
No word from congressman on bid for
governor
By TY BEAVER
H&N Staff Writer
August 9, 2009
Greg Walden may still be open to
a gubernatorial bid. Or, he may not be.
“I just don’t have any
indication,” said John Snider, Walden’s district director in
Medford.
A recent article from
the Associated Press discussing potential candidates for Oregon’s
governor’s office included former governor John Kitzhaber and
Republican
Allen Alley, but omitted the
state’s sole Republican congressman.
Walden has said in the past he
was considering a run for governor, but had yet to make an
official decision. Snider said
he understood the
congressman had yet to change that stance, though a decision could
come this month or in September.
“I’ve never heard one way or
another,” he said.
Snider said the
AP article wasn’t the first time people haven’t considered Walden to
be a candidate. He’s seen polls conducted statewide that don’t
include the congressman.
