restoration funds available

The
Bureau of Reclamation’s Klamath Basin Area Office, working in
partnership with other federal and
Oregon
agencies, has announced the availability of $2 million in
reclamation funds for the Klamath River Watershed Restoration Program in
fiscal year 2008.
The
Bureau of Reclamation is specifically requesting proposals to:
Help
enhance populations of threatened coho salmon and endangered shortnose
and
Lost
River
suckers.
Restore the
Klamath River
ecosystem.
Further the fulfillment of the Federal Government’s
tribal trust responsibilities as they relate to the natural resources in
the
Klamath River
watershed.
The Bureau of Reclamation will consider funding
potential projects that enhance and restore habitat conditions, improve
water-quality conditions, remove fish-passage barriers, reduce
entrainment through the installation of fish screens, and result in
water conservation efficiencies.
Agencies
involved
The fiscal year 2008 Request for Proposal (RFP)
process involves the participation of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine
Fisheries Service , Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Forest
Service, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, and Klamath Basin Tribes.
Participating agencies will work with Reclamation to
review, evaluate, and rank proposals.
The RFP is posted at www.grants.gov
for a 45 - day open period from March 24 to Monday, May 19 (Solicitation
number 08SF200023).
