Water update: Lake level overlaps

The elevation of Upper
Klamath Lake was 4,139.44 feet on Tuesday, just more than a foot
from the target lake level for the end of August, 4,138.5 feet.
Upper Klamath Lake levels in
August have overlapped
2009 levels for the first time this year. Since October, the
lake has consistently been around two feet lower than last year.
The 2009 watering season ended in September with lake levels at
4,138.15 feet. The target
level for this September is
4,137.5 feet.
The A Canal was flowing at
550 cubic feet per second on Tuesday. The Williamson River was
flowing at a rate of 389 cubic feet per second on Wednesday,
which is 74 percent of the long term
average for that date.
The National
Weather Service is reporting that since Sept. 1, Klamath Falls
has received 7.17 inches of precipitation, which is 61 percent
of average.
