Why are Tribes entitled to special treatment?

Klamath Falls Herald and News
Letter to the Editor
February 3, 2011

I would like to know why the Klamath Tribes continues to receive millions of dollars annually for all of their programs that no other race of people are entitled to.

The tribes are a sovereign nation, or so they say, but it looks like they are more of a welfare state than a sovereign nation. The Tribes stand there with their hand out stating that the government took advantage of them and the taxpayer should pay for that.

The money the Tribes receive could fund schools and safety for everyone and not just a few. No one knows what the Tribes receive every year and the Tribes will not disclose that amount. So if you want a high-paying job, try and go to work for the Tribes. They have excellent pay and benefits.
