CITIZENS DESCEND ON HEADGATES ON HORSEBACK!!

July 20, 2001

A spectacular scene was described with the “Calvary” of about 150 riders descending on the headgates at Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Over 60 horse and stock trailers carrying anywhere between 2 to 6 horses and riders are assembled in downtown Klamath Falls.  At 1:00 they will begin their ride (some would say assault) upon the headgates. Dressed in red, white and blue, the makeshift cavalry company of over 150 is expected to arrive behind the headgates, directly opposite the makeshift city that has been erected.  This picture was taken at the assembly area.

Coming over the hill, to the Headgates

The cavalry arrived … not a dry eye here.

Absolutely spectacular .. 148 horses and riders cleared the ridge … most carrying US flags. The National Anthem played as the descended the hill … followed by an invocation … and of course … Lee Greenwood. To top it off … an F15 Eagle made a low pass …

A crowd on this side … estimated at nearly 400 …was simply awe struck. Truthfully, you couldn’t be an American … and remain dry eyed …
