Land
Use Forum Set For
March
15, 2008
February
15, 2008
Property
owners across the state should mark their calendars for
March 15,
2008
and plan on being in Wilsonville for the Oregonians In Action Education
Center's annual Land Use Forum.
Each year, Forum attendees receive the latest, most up-to-date
information
on issues affecting property ownership, land use, and individual rights.
Currently, there is more activity on land use issues in
Oregon
than ever
before. This year's Forum promises to provide critical
information for
property owners on important changes affecting private property.
At this year's Forum, legislators and panelists will present the latest
updates on Measure 49, including a "how-to" on how to file
claims under the
measure, lawsuits challenging Measure 49, and an explanation of what
property owners can expect under the Measure.
In addition to discussing Measure 49, there will be a panel at this
year's
Forum on the Big Look Task Force, the 10 member task force charged with
reviewing
Oregon
's land use
system. The Task Force will likely receive
additional funding from the
Oregon
legislature, and will recommend changes
to
Oregon
's land use
system. Panelists will discuss what changes, if any,
the Task Force will recommend to the legislature and public.
During lunch, a keynote speaker will discuss the importance of property
rights, free markets and individual rights in a free society. Past
keynote
speakers include Montana Governor Marc Racicot, Congressman Richard
Pombo,
and former television and newspaper columnist Tony Snow.
This year, the
Education
Center
is proud
to present the Aaron U. Jones
Property Rights Award to Lars Larson, local and national radio talk show
host. Mr. Larson has been a strong proponent of property rights
and freedom
for property owners, and has used his popular radio program to discuss
these
critical issues.
If you are interested in property rights or land use, the Land Use Forum
is
a must. Attendees will learn more at the Land Use Forum on land
use/property rights issues than at any other meeting.
The cost of the Forum is $30, and includes lunch. Reservations can
be made
by mailing in the attached form or calling
OIA
Education
Center
at (503)
620-0258. Although reservations are not required, the last two
Forums have
sold out, so early reservations are encouraged.
