Why POW formed

VP Mark Baird presented an overview of how POW formed to stop the outrageous regulations being forced upon landowners in Scott Valley by government agencies.

These regulations are reducing the amount of water a legal Water Right holder can use by expanding two Permits.

*  One is the streambed alteration Permit 1602.

*  The other is the Incidental Take Permit that permits someone to harm, harass, or injure an Endangered Specie, like the coho salmon, without prosecution.

That Permit will now harm, harass or injure the Water Right holder by demanding the Water Right holder leave more water in the stream. This will hurt his business by taking away his irrigation water.

Remember: Water is what gives property value.

Do you believe the government has the right to devalue your property?

POW  Mission  Statement

We say “NO” to those regulations that are

attempting to destroy our Constitutional Rights.

We will not submit,

nor sign our rights away;

but rather,

we will stand on those Constitutional Rights

with all the resources at our command.

Civil Disobedience is legal

We will be calm. We will be peaceful. But we will support one another. If the California Department of Fish and Game Wardens come on your property, with just a phone call to our Phone Tree the word will be sent out and we will immediately drive to your property and stand with you.

DEADLINE from DFG is Now!

SISKIYOU COUNTY – Teams of DFG Wardens have visited people who have NOT signed under the Siskiyou or Shasta Valley Resource Conservation Districts for the Incidental Take Permit, ITP, or 1602 Streambed Alteration Permit; or who have not signed directly with the DFG for these two permits. Sometimes they have been polite, other times -- not- so-much.

THEY are intimidating. They threaten huge fines and prosecution for NOT signing up.

Game Wardens have said they may try to file an injunction to shut your water off – your Water Right!  This threat is not acceptable.

Water must be kept flowing, if needed through Civil Disobedience, which is allowed through the U.S. Constitution.

At most, this DFG violation is a misdemeanor. The California Fish and Game Commission  enacted this strategy against landowners -- only in Siskiyou County .  Is this discrimination?

What to do:

Take photos of Game Wardens.

Ask and expect to receive their name and badge number. Tape or video record the discussion and announce this to the Game Wardens.

Ground Water Advisory Committee

The SCWUA and POW leaders attended a Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors meeting on July 13, 2010 and voiced opposition to the creation of a Scott Valley Ground Water Advisory Committee through the Scott River Watershed Council.

POW will have a booth at the Siskiyou Golden Fair Aug. 12-15 to share information on Water Rights and Property Rights.
