To the Editor:

I have written a letter to the Governor of California regarding the attempted removal of the dams on the
Klamath River , and the destruction of private property in Siskiyou County .
Below is a copy of the reply from the governor's office. I would appreciate your printing this letter.

Perhaps we should pursue this entire matter through the grand jury. Have them investigate why our county supervisors participate in secret meetings and also investigate the legality of this so-called agreement.

"County elected officials are held accountable by their constituency, and it is their oath to uphold their office and act in the best interest of their constituents. If you have already pursued the matter through your local elected officials and have been unsuccessful in reaching a resolution, you may consider pursuing the matter through the grand jury. Each county is required to assemble and maintain a grand jury that is charged with oversight of government institutions. You can obtain information regarding your county's grand jury by contacting your county's superior court."
