We could
easily lose all our water rights

To the Editor:
After 2001 we have all learned how fast money can be lost without
irrigation water. Water equals money.
The level of water in the Klamath Lake is at the lowest level for this
date since the very
beginning of the project (1906). This fact is not due to a natural
drought but due to conscious decisions made by the Bureau of Reclamation
(our federal government) to let our water go downstream to benefit Coho
salmon. These fish are classified as "threatened" and yet, we can all
eat wild Coho salmon for dinner every night if we
wish. We could easily lose all of our water rights if we are not
careful.
If you do not think it is possible for the government and the extreme
environmentalists to
put 80% of agriculture out of business - just look at the logging
industry's history. We need to stand together and demand our fair share
of the water. The salmon and the suckers should not get it all! We need
to promote the finalization of the legal adjudication process of our
water rights so that property owners are not robbed of what is
rightfully theirs.
