Although many have said we should recall all the supervisors, we can only recall the person who represents our district. The other supervisors are accountable to their own districts. We believe that the board of supervisors has not supported the people in coordinating a reasonable plan with federal and state agencies respecting our right to retain our culture and traditional way of life. This has given the special interest groups who wish to control the water and lands of our area a green light to continue to terrorize our heritage and family farmers living in Siskiyou County. This must stop. Our state and local agencies, such as DFG and NCRWQCB, are tasked to advise and protect us and our environment,  not destroy our way of life. When did they become tools of communitarians?

I believe it was Mark Twain who said, “You can fool some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” This issue is not just about farmers. It will effect all of us sooner than later. I have been out asking people to sign our petition. I would like to assure anyone who has signed our petition, that it is confidential. That appears to be a concern. I find that telling. I would like to explain to those who give veiled threats about possible confrontations with the rabid farmers and “property right activists” in Scott Valley, that in fact there is no threat. Saying so doesn’t make it true. The real threat is the constant attack on the rights of Americans who are just farming or living on their land.  

The people of Scott Valley have been good stewards of the land. They have supported many restoration and habitat protection programs. Their tax dollars support those programs and pay the salaries of the government employees who work here. These are good people who take care of what they have, work hard and grow the food and raise livestock that feed our country. They support the local economy and without them, your property and businesses will be devalued.  

Our board of supervisors supports an agenda that will destroy our freedom, our right to own property and the very foundation of our country. These issues are not about fish or the environment. It is about power and control,  and it is time to look under the green mask. We are required by our constitution to replace our government if it does not protect our freedom, and has become oppressive. It is time to do that, and we need to start at home.
