Dell'Arte production brings Klamath
River history alive

Siskiyou Daily News

WEED – The Dell’Arte Company brings Siskiyou County history alive as it presents In the Land of the Grasshopper Song, at the College of the Siskiyous Weed Campus Ford Theatre, for one performance only, on Friday, March 2nd, at 7 p.m.

The internationally acclaimed Dell’Arte Company captivates young and old in this hysterical, historically true, musical comedy. Mixing great songs, live music, physical theater, and puppets, with a true story of adventure and excitement, In the Land of the Grasshopper Song, is a show audiences talk about for years to come.

Based on an award-winning, true-account book, it tells the story of two East Coast Field Matrons, who set out in 1907, to become the Field Matrons for the Karuk Tribe along the Klamath and Salmon Rivers in Northern California.

A recent press release described the show as being “filled with love, original music, and a journey filled with laughter, danger, outlandish characters, discovery and friendship, that historically spans their two years, spent in the very remote backcountry along the river.”

For tickets call the Weed Campus Foundation Office at 938-5373 or toll-free (888) 397-4339.

General admission tickets are $20; children 12 and under are $12; group tickets are $15 per ticket for groups of 25 or more. Seniors receive a $1 discount.

All seats are reserved. If tickets are still available the evening of the performance, they will be sold at the theatre box office beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The series is co-sponsored by the COS Foundation, Scott Valley Bank, and Siskiyou Training and Employment Program (STEP).
