Larry Mitchell Toelle

Fort Jones, Calif. - Larry Mitchell Toelle, 63, passed on Dec. 13, 2009, due to complications of agent orange, at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka surrounded by his friends and life partner, Alice Stone.

Larry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 10, 1946, the son of Virginia Pulley and Horace H. Toelle.

After technical school, Larry joined the Sperry Rand Corporation as a customer engineer.
 
He joined the United States Army in 1964 and was trained as a computer programmer. He was stationed at various command and control assignments, including the Pentagon, for five years. While serving in Hawaii, he completed commercial flight school and advanced to a co-pilot rating. After his discharge, he flew part-time for AAII Airlines and founded a tropical fish company, shipping worldwide. Returning to the mainland, he resumed programming with South East Asia Computer Associates, with assignments in Singapore, Saigon, Vietnam, Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong, and at the Great Wall of China for 13 months.

Larry’s love of programming led him to employment with Allstate Insurance, Bool and Babbage, and Mentel Corporation. Tiring of the corporate life, he founded Bridgeway Systems Inc., partnered with and supporting Itel, Contra Costa County, IPAPS, CAP/CPA Surrey, England and Bank of America. He co-founded several companies: Info-Tools, Back Easy, EZ-Store and Diskette Gazzette

Forming The Software Authority, he moved to Scott Valley to continue consulting and enjoy his hobbies. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper, horseback rider, dune buggy builder and competitor, R/C helicopter builder and a private pilot.

He was preceded in death by his father Horace H. Toelle.

He is survived by his mother Virginia Pulley of Green Valley, Ariz., his life partner Alice Stone of Scott Valley, his daughter Dr. Yvette Haeberle, his son-in-law Dr. John Haeberle and his grandsons Alex and Joe Haeberle of Laramie, Wyo.

He was a past member of Rotary, American Legion, a member of the State Grange (Regional Director), and he helped found PFUSA.

He will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances for his kindness and helpfulness.

Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009. A memorial service will be planned and announced at a later date.
