Copco Lake — In the recent elections, Siskiyou
County voters gave a landslide majority (11,000-plus
votes) in not wanting dams removed on the Klamath
River.
Klamath County voters were almost a majority (10,736
votes) in not wanting to be involved in the process.
The “will of the people” has been established as a
new stakeholder – stakeholder that does not want to
be part of this stinking process but a tremendous
force that now needs to be dealt with.
This turn of events now begs another question. Why
should I, one of the 22,000 voters against dam
removal, now turn around and buy products from
stakeholder groups that want dams removed? From now
on, Klamath basin potatoes, horseradish and cereal
grains that can be identified will no longer be in
my house. Hopefully, other voters will make a
similar choice. Each voter can also take this same
message to friends and relatives throughout the
nation. Further, ask your grocer to stock products
from Idaho and Washington. Why should anyone support
stakeholders/organizations that are against the
“will of the people”?
Voting again is right, this time at the grocery
store.
