Scott River Watershed Council to host public information
forum Feb 15
Siskiyou Daily News
January 28, 2012
Fort Jones, Calif. — The Scott River
Watershed Council (SRWC) will host the annual Scott
River Watershed Information Forum (SWIF) from 9:30
a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Fort Jones
Community Hall, 11960 East St. The council started
this forum in 2003 to showcase the extensive natural
resource conservation work being done across this
community, stated a recent press release from the
SRWC. The release went on to say that the forum has
provided a way for agencies, community members and
other entities to share the good work that they are
doing and to find common ground to work towards
solving resource management challenges being faced.
In addition to information sharing, this forum will
be used to identify obstacles and possible
solutions, to chart common projects having the
potential of data sharing and coordinated efforts,
and to document accurate and pertinent project
information for public knowledge.
Presentations planned for this year include: an
update from the Siskiyou County Groundwater Advisory
Committee, monitoring activities being completed by
Klamath National Forest and a report by Mary Olswang,
California Dept of Fish and Game on fish passage
monitoring. Following the presentations will be a
round-robin information sharing session,to release
said.
A no-host luncheon will be provided at noon by Bob’s
Ranch House for $11 each, payable at the door. If
possible, reservations for lunch should be called in
to Danielle Yokel by Feb. 10. Free coffee and
refreshments will be available at 9:30 a.m.
For a more detailed agenda, visit the SRWC website
at scottriver.org or contact Danielle Yokel, council
coordinator, at 467-5511.
