Yreka, Calif. -  The Shasta Indian Nation held its monthly meeting at Denny's Restaurant in Yreka Saturday. Among topics of discussion, board members noted their support for the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors' resolution opposing the decommissioning and removal of four dams on the Klamath River, according to Shasta Indian Nation secretary Ray Shelton. The secretary told the Daily News that the main issue before the Shasta Indian Nation is securing federal re-recognition of the tribe " ... for the purpose of reestablishing our culture for our posterity and establishing an economic base in Siskiyou County."
