Supervisors to look at KBRA,
wildfire panel at today’s meeting
By David Smith
Siskiyou Daily News
March 2, 2010
Yreka, Calif. - The Siskiyou County Board of
Supervisors today will discuss a broad range of issues at its 10
a.m. meeting, including a letter to senators Barabara Boxer and
Dianne Feinstein urging modifications to a current bill that may
affect the Secretary of the Interior’s ability to take land into
trust for Native American tribes, the status of the Siskiyou
County Wildfire Protection Panel and an update from County
Counsel Thomas Guarino regarding the county’s participation in
the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement.
Guarino indicated that at today’s meeting he will be seeking
input from the board on when the county will be holding a public
forum to hear comments about the KBRA and get input from
constituents before moving forward.
The board will also decide whether or not it will approve a
mitigated negative declaration for a project involving the
Doctor’s Park Owners Association in Mount Shasta.
A negative declaration is a finding that a proposed project will
not have a significant adverse effect on the environment, and
the Doctor’s Park project seeks to allow health care facilities
on its current property in addition to professional office uses,
as well as the building of two 10,000 square-foot professional
buildings and a number of modifications to parking, drainage and
sewer facilities.
Description of the project, as well as the concerns of its
opponents, will be covered in a future edition of the Siskiyou
Daily News.
