What will ag operators be facing?

Dear Editor,

Now that we have the national and local elections behind us we can concentrate on our own elections to fill vacancies on our board of directors. The nominating committee of Stan Sears and Tom Menne will offer their recommendations to fill these seats.

Of great importance are the issues of what all agriculture operators may be facing with what may be proposed by the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board [NCRWQCB] in the way of what many are considering “permits to farm.” These come in the form of “waste discharge requirements” and “waivers” related to the water-quality legislation.

To get some clarity on these issues we have invited representatives from the water board to attend our meeting to explain what the impacts of these programs will be on ag operations.

We invite you to be there and be informed. If you use water you may be affected.

More on this as the agenda for this meeting is finalized.
