| EUREKA -- As everybody knows, there
was a lot of rain in March -- the sixth wettest March since 1887.
According to the National Weather Service, we had 11.11 inches of rain in March. A lot, but far short of the wettest March, which occurred in 1904 when we soaked up 19.05 inches of rain. We had 25 days of rain that measured at least 0.01 inches. There were only four days during the month when there was no rain. Normal rainfall for Eureka in March is 5.55 inches. Perhaps Eurekans would like to revisit 1916, when the area received only 0.07 inches of rain for the month. We did set a record low temperature. On March 11, Eureka recorded a low of 30 degrees, down one degree from the record 31 degrees recorded in March 1890. The average temperature in March for Eureka is 50 degrees. The high temperature for the month was 64, recorded on March 23. The record high for the month was recorded twice -- 78 degrees in 1914 and 1930.
