Dan Nielsen
A Klamath Basin resident for 30 years, Dan graduated
from Klamath Union High School in 1980. After working
in
farming for 10 years, he started his own trucking
company
hauling Ag commodities in and out of the basin.
He and his
wife
also own and tend 42 acres of farmland in
the
Klamath Project.
Dan is
Vice-President of Southern
Oregon
Dirt Riders.

Barbara Hall
A
Klamath
Basin
native, Barbara received
an Accounting degree from OTI in 1972 and worked for Weyerhaeuser Company for
21 years before early retirement due to downsizing.
Widowed with 3 step-grandchildren and 3
step-great grandchildren,
Barbara is currently devoting her time as the office manager/researcher for
the Klamath Bucket Brigade.

Shirley
Kerns
Raised
on a farm in
Kansas, Shirley has been a
Klamath resident since 1961.
Married with 3 grown children, she is involved in their third
generation family farm/ranch business. Past
community involvement includes 4-H, chairman of Farm Expo, chairman of Oregon Farm Bureau Women
and member of Oregon Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
She is currently chairman of Klamath County Cattlewomen Scholarship
Committee and works for the
Winema
National Forest
where she coordinates a natural resource education program for high
school students and teachers.

Bob
King
Bob is a 74 year old semi-retired California
dairyman who
moved to the
Klamath Basin in 1993.
Here he still farms
and
ranches in the Klamath Project.
Since 1946, Bob
never received
a government subsidy
until 2001 when his
irrigation water was curtailed.
Barron
Knoll

Barron Knoll is a 33-year old husband and
father. He
graduated from Henley
High
School, and then
Oregon
State
University
with a
Bachelor's
degree
in
Agriculture. He has
been a
resident of the
Klamath
Basin for 17 years
and
has been ranching and farming for the past
15 years. In the
last few
of years, he
has
dedicated countless hours fighting
for the life he loves and
the values he believes in.
Charlotte
Rodgers
Lifetime
Oregonian, Charlotte
has spent the past 30
years in the Klamath Basin. She is
the Owner - President of R & C Rodgers Construction and co-owner of Shady
Pine Ranch. Board member of
Soroptimist International of Klamath Falls, Advisory Board member of
Opportunity Knocks and a board member of the State Workforce Investment Board.
Mike
Tyrholm
Mike
was born in
Albert Lea, Minnesota
and has been a Klamath
Basin
resident since 1962. He
joined the family business in 1977 (Tyrholm Big R, Inc) and has been co-owner
for the last 15 years and board chairman for the last eight.
Mike is currently president of Lakeside Farms, Inc; a 400 acre barley
and potato farm adjacent to Upper Klamath Lake.
Mike is married to Diane Cross, member of a 3rd generation
Tulelake farm family and managers of the Newell Potato Co-Op.
William
(Bill) Morris
Born in St. Francis, Kansas; Bill has a BS degree in
Forestry
and a BA
degree in Business Management
from Colorado State University. For 22
years, he
flew for the
United States Air Force and the National
Guard and
spent a one year tour in Viet Nam. For
8 years he worked for
Lockheed Martin at
Kingsley Field and is a
small land owner in the Klamath Project.
Steve
Cheyne
Steve is a native of the Klamath Basin
and a member of
family that has
numerous ties
to agriculture since their
arrival
in the early years of the
Klamath
Project. Steve
attended the Henley school system for
twelve years. He
attended
both Oregon
State University
and Southern
Oregon College, graduating from the latter with B.S. and M.S. degrees in
Biology. In addition to a lifelong agricultural association, Steve has
worked in
mosquito control, developed a geothermal aquaculture business, worked as
an
irrigation specialist
for the Oregon State University Extension Service, and served on the
Klamath
Basin
Water Resources Advisory Committee.
Alvin
Cheyne
Since
1938,
Alvin
has been farming the same
land his father purchased in 1910. Being
civic minded, he served on the American Soil and Conservation Service
Committee for 18 years, the Roads Advisory Committee to the Klamath County
Commissioners for 16 years, 12 years as a 4H Beef leader, 4 years (1960-1964)
as president of the Cattleman’s Association, and 4 years (1979 - 1983) as a
Klamath County
Commissioners. (We lost Alvin on June 17, 2005 and have dedicated this
website to him in his memory. - KBB)
